Lancaster Toppled by Forney

FORNEY, Texas, Sept. 26 - The favored Lancaster Tigers fell to the Forney Jackrabbits here Friday night in a non-conference game, 19 to 0, before a capacity crowd. The running of Forney’s big fullback, Brooksy Roland and the smooth ball-handling of Quarterback Charles Osborne along with the great defense work of the Forney line proved too much for the Tigers.

Scoring began early in the first quarter with a 20-yard pass from Osborne to Robert Griffin, moving Forney to the Lancaster 9. Working from the T, Roland slid off his own left tackle for the score.

Forney came back for its second score by taking advantage of a Lancaster fumble on the Tiger 30, and moved steadily toward pay dirt with Roland plunging center for the touchdown from the 3.

Taking the kickoff late in the second quarter, Lancaster’s Cecil Yates broke loose for a 40-yard scamper around his own left end and moved the ball down to the Forney 20. Three line plays moved the ball another 8 yards, but the Forney defense tightened, staved off Lancaster’s only threat in the first half with the score 13 to 0.
