North Forney Academy
Dallas Morning News
June 24, 1888

Forney, Tex., June 23 - The closing exercises of the North Forney academy took place at the Dailey & McKellar opera house. The house was packed to its utmost capacity; the crowd was estimated to number 1000. The pupils were surely a credit to the school. Misses Etha Dailey, Belle Stroud, Emma Lewis, Lizzie Richie and Lewers Stevenson, by their sweet and fascinting voices, received the praise of the audience. Speeches were made to the students by Judge H.P. Teague, of Kaufman, and the principal, Prof. E.C. Lewis. Excellent music was furnished by the Forney band. A very hard rain fell during the exercises at which time about half the audience left, but the exercises continued and were finished.
