Dallas Morning News
August 6, 1939

FORNEY, Texas. Aug. 5 - Funeral services for James C. Reagin, 76, president and founder of the Forney State Bank, who passed away Saturday morning at his home in Forney, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Forney Methodist Church. Dr. W.C. Morrow, pastor of the Forney Christian Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. W.A. Zimmerman, pastor of the Forney Methodist Church, and the Rev. M.L. Joines, pastor of the Forney Baptist Church.

Mr. Reagin had lived here fifty-four years, coming from Tennessee. He was one of Forney's wholesale hay dealers in the early days when Forney hay was shipped to foreign markets. He had large farm interests and had been a leader in the town's financial affairs, having served as president of the Forney State Bank since he founded it in 1915. He became a member of the Methodist Church in early childhood, and was a Scottish Rite Mason, past member of the local Blue Lodge, and a member of Hella Temple Shrine.

He is survived by one sister, Miss Mary Reagin, and one brother, E.E. Reagin of Forney. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with Guyton McKellar, Y.D. Adams, J.W. Pinson, O.A. Lewis, George Anderson and W.H. Crawford as pallbearers.
