On Monday the jury to try the case of the state vs. W.P. Newton, charged with the murder of James Peel some time last year near the Kaufman county line, was obtained in the criminal district court. Tuesday was occupied in the hearing of the habeas corpus case of Robert Cozby and Frank Lusk, charged with the murder of James Bennett near Coppell, something over a week ago.

Yesteray the trial of the Newton case was begun, and a number of witnesses examined by the court. It is probably the case will not be concluded before Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
