W.A.J. Hilton Passed Away Tuesday

William A.J. Hilton, age 87, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Taylor, Tuesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were held in Tennessee Colony near Palestine Wednesday at 11:00 o'clock.

Mr. Hilton was born in Lanster, South Carolina, Jan. 20, 1852, coming to Texas in 1785 [sic], settling near Palestine. Later he moved to Terrell. For the past nine years he has made his home in Forney with his daughter. He has been a member of the Baptist Church since early childhood. Mr. Hilton has also been a member of the Masonic lodge fifty-five years.

The Masons had charge of the services at the cemetery.

The following children survive: Mrs. Janie Ingram, Palestine; Mrs. Dashia Evans, Riverpark, California; Mrs. M.G. Armstrong, Dallas; Will Hilton, Jackson, Sam and Amon Hilton, Terrell; Mrs. Bud Dixon, Durant, Oklahoma and Mrs. John Taylor of Forney.
