Funeral Rites Held for Mrs. Nell H. Rhea
Unknown Newspaper
November 1959

Mrs. Nell H. Rhea, resident of Forney for many years, passed away at a Terrell hospital Sunday afternoon following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jas. H. Stanley, Rev. Homer H. Caldwell and Rev. Howard L. Holland officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rhea was born at Grapeland, Texas on October 8, 1883. She came to Forney as a young girl of eighteen and has been a resident of this city since that time. She was, for many years, a teacher in the public schools of Forney. The Primary department building at the Elementary School was dedicated in her honor a few years ago. Her kind and charming personality made a great impression on the children under her guidance.

She was graduated from North Texas College at Denton.

Mrs. Rhea was a member of the Baptist church and for many years was a member of the Pennybacker Club.

She was married to Frank B. Rhea on June 14, 1910 and to this union three children were born. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Jack S. Bass of Fort Worth; two sons, Milton Rhea of Austin, Frank B. Rhea, Jr., of Forney; five grandchildren; one brother, Dan F. Hill of Grapeland; two sisters, Mrs. C.L. Walker and Miss May Bell Hill, both of Dallas.
