Death has removed another pioneer Forney citizen from the walks of life. Mrs. Julia Hatley, after a brief illness, died at her home in this city Monday morning at 5 o'clock. She, with her husband who has been dead some eight* years, came to Texas more than fifty years ago.

She was born March 18, 1851, in North Carolina. She was married to Goodwin Hatley, and with her husband came to Texas in 1883, settling at Forney where the family has since resided.

She is survived by one son and two daughters, Van Hatley, Mrs. J.S. Robertson and Mrs. E.Y. Moore, all of Forney. Several grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service was held at the family residence at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. L.B. Jenkins, pastor of the Mesquite Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Hill Crest cemetery.

She had rounded out fourscore and four years, more than the allotted time for the average person. She experienced some of the early day difficulties in this section but lived to see this one of the most prosperous sections of Texas.

The many friends of the family join in extending sympathy in the passing of this good woman.

Note: According to the Hillcrest Cemetery records, Julia was born March 18, 1851 and died April 8, 1935. Her husband Goodwin was born January 1, 1849 and died April 20, 1932, three years before Julia, not eight.
