Joseph Edward Schlebach

Joe E. Schlebach, long time resident of the Talty community, died in a Terrell hospital late Tuesday. Funeral mass was held at St. Martin church on Friday with Rev. C. Glogowski as celebrant, with interment at Highland Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Joseph Edward Schlebach was born in High Hill, Texas on April 14, 1885. He grew up in South Texas and later lived in Palo Pinto county for a time before moving to Kaufman County in 1930 to the Talty community. He was engaged in farming in that area until ill health forced his retirement. He was twice married and the father of fifteen children. Four children died in infancy and he is survived by: five sons, John, Louis and Ted Schlebach of Dallas, George Schlebach of Talty and Emil Schlebach of Mesquite. Six daughters, Mrs. Rose Smith of Magnolia, Mrs. Christine Popp of Forney, Mrs. Mary Bartosch of Orange Grove, Mrs. Cecelia Bartosch of Robstown, Mrs. Theresia Matysec of Fernon [sic]* and Mrs. Veronica Harrell of Waco.

Note: The Texas Death Index has Joseph Schlebach's date of death as June 14, 1966 in Kaufman County.
