Funeral Rites Held for Jodie S. Laird

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Forney Methodist Church for Jodie S. Laird who died of an heart attack Monday afternoon at his home 3314 Norwalk in Dallas. Rev. L.B. Jenkins and Rev. J.M. Lewis officiated. Interment was in the family plot at Hillcrest cemetery. Pallbearers were Clyde Whittemore, Harold Dykes, Don Ord, Bill Shipley, J.C. Brownwell Sr., and D.W. Fain Jr.

Jodie S. Laird was born Feb. 11, 1891 in Mississippi. He came with his family to Texas when he was three years of age and lived many years of his life in Forney. He was married to Mittie Briscoe and to this union two sons were born.

The family moved to Dallas 17 years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Jodie L. Laird and John M. Laird of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Shipley, Mrs. Lucille Brownwell and Mrs. Lena Dykes, all of Dallas and a brother, Jewell Laird of Dallas.

Mrs. Laird was a member of the Methodist Church.
