Mr. Yates was born in Dallas County, Dec. 30, 1870 and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete Yates. October 18, 1888 he married Miss Minnie Howard and to this union six children were born, and all are living except one daughter, who died at the age of three. He was a member of the Baptist Church, uniting in the year of 1896.

The following survive, his wife; five sons, Clyde Yates, Terrell; Loy and Hugh Yates, Dallas; Howard Yates, Harlingen; Don Yates, Forney; and one brother, Jim Yates of Kaufman.

The pallbearers were Max Yates and Baten Yates of Kaufman, Harve Guynes of Crandall, Herman Yates and Arthur Yates.

Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
