Public Artesian Well
Forney Tribune
Friday, June 18, 1889, Page 3

The commissioners court have under advisement the idea of having bored on the square an artesion well for sewarge purposes. For sometime they have been discussing how best to secure drainage for the jail. To build sewage without water to keep them clean of the filth they would soon become clogged up and be a constant source of annoyance and expense. By having an artesian well the constant flow of water would create a drainage. The court is of the opinion that the city should assist in the project by private subscription, as such a well would be directly beneficial to the town in case of fire and affording an abundance of water. If the matter was properly laid before our citizens we believe a handsome subscription would be readily raised. --Kaufman Sun.

(Note: This article looks like a reprint from the Kaufman Sun, so it probably refers to Kaufman, Texas. Forney built an artesian well in 1909.)
