Judges from A. and M.
Husbandry Students Make Good, and Are in Big Demand in Fairs of the State
Galveston Daily News
October 2, 1910

College Station, Tex., Sept 30 - "We were so well pleased with the students of the A. and M. College who came to be judges at the colt show last year that we want you to send others to us again this year," was the letter Colonel Milner, president of the college, received from the officers of the fair to be held at Rusk, Tex.

In comjpliance with that request, Colonel Milner sent for John C. Burns, professor of animal industry, and told him to name his students.

Mr. Burns selected Sam Hawkins Ray of Falfurrias and Leber Miller Trigg of Bastrop, and these two young men will go to Rusk early in October to officiate as judges. These boys are seniors this year, specializing in animal husbandry.

Professor Burns was invited by the officers of the Navarro County Fair, at Corsicana, to judge the livestock there this year, but as he had promised other places at the same time he could not accept. In his stead will go Professor C.M. Evans, who is to be in charge of the free correspondence course at the college. Professor Evans graduated at the A. and M. College in 1908.

Professor Burns will judge the livestock at the fair and carnival at San Angelo, Oct. 6, 7 and 8, and at the De Witt County Fair, at Cuero, Oct. 14.

Because of the remarkable increase of the students in the course in agriculture, Professor Burns has found it necessary to increase the teaching force of his department, and has engaged O.W. Reagin, formerly of Forney, Tex. Mr. Reagin was a student of the college three years, specializing in animal husbandry.
