February 6, 1893

Forney, Kaufman Co., Tex., Feb 5 - J.E. Elder, who was arrested last night at Shreveport for killing a negro, as reported in today's News, lives five miles east of Forney. His father, Col. Elder, is a well-to-do farmer, and his father-in-law, J.M. Davis, is one of the wealthiest farmers in Kaufman county. He is known here as Blanch Elder, and his initials are J.B. He telegraphed his relatives last night, and his father-in-law left today for Shreveport to help him out of his trouble.
