The Spellman Museum of Forney History is excited to announce the hiring of a new Museum Director who will help us with the new museum, grants, fundraising, and community awareness.
Catherine Ray Wright is a native Texan, born and raised in Dallas. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a BFA and a MA in Museum Studies from The Johns Hopkins University. Her work experience includes working for Southwest Airlines as a Flight Attendant, and Richardson Independent School District as a visual art teacher. Her museum experience includes Curator for Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum and Public Relations with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts both located in Alabama. She has also worked in the education department with the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas.
Catherine brings a focused vision to the Spellman Museum as we near the completion of architectural plans for the renovation of our new location. She along with the Board of Directors see the Spellman as a vital part of Forney, offering exciting new exhibits and a full educational department offering classes for all ages.
Catherine and her husband Brad have three grown sons, a daughter-in-law and two granddaughters.

The Board of the Forney Historic Preservation League met in October to review the 95% drawings for the new museum. The drawings were done by the preservation architect team of Quimby-McCoy. Once finalized, the architects will create construction documents which will be used to bid for general contractors. We hope to begin construction very soon.
