106 ‘Exes’ attend Homecoming Luncheon

The Homecoming Luncheon, a covered dish affair, had 106 exes present.

At the annual business meeting first priority was given to Mrs. Polly Pinson, Class of 1908, as “Queen for a Day” on a lace-pillowed rocking chair, flowers, corsage, and a music box mirror.

Homecoming Parade winners were next announced. A check for $25.00 was presented to the first place winner, “Roast the Bulldogs” by Execs of ’57 and ’84. A check for $15.00 was presented to second place entry by the FFA Club. A check for $10.00 was presented to third place entry of “Clowns.”

The class of 1923 with the most present of 5, chose Della B. Hacker as Coming-Home Queen.

Other highlights were the association approval of voluntary contributions to the Forney Middle School and the funds will be spent by Sandra Helm Kirk, Principal. All are encouraged to make a donation.

The 1985 Homecoming Officers were next elected by 100 percent acclamation of all the exes to restore to office the current slate of officers: President – Monna Vineyard; Vice-Pres. – Mary Ruth Taylor; Sect. – Kay Duckworth; Treasurer – Yvonne Creecy and Martha Kasper and Sylvia Novak Miller as assistants.

Also in interesting highlight of the day was 3 groups of “3 Generations” of families present. Registered exes – Nettie Tune, Ruth McAnally and Jeff McAnally; Inez Shipley, Molly Shipley Belz and David Belz.

Not registered but present were May Osborne, Monna Osborne Vineyard of ’58 and Bobbi Vineyard, a Sophomore in Forney High School.

Everyone who contributed to the success of Homecoming 1984 are most sincerely appreciated.

The 1984 Homecoming parade float entered by the Forney Ex-Students’ Association took first prize this year. Theme of the float was “Stew the Bulldogs.” The Bulldogs DID get stewed – Saturday night, by a score of 35-0!
