Williamson Murder Case

The state vs. Bill Williamson, charged with the murder of Elle Noel, an old negro, was a mistrial, the jury being unable to bring in a verdict, ten being in favor of conviction and two for acquittal. The only person who saw the shooting was a son of the old negro, and he was fully a hundred yards from them. He swears positively that Bill Williamson did the shooting, while Bill says Andy, his brother, did the shooting and Andy acknowledges to the charge. His wife also swears that he told her he killed Noel.

The case of Andy Williamson, as charged in the indictment, was called for trial Wednesday evening, and on motion of defendant for continuance was continued until next term of distrct court. The attorneys of the defense deserve great credit for the skill they have shown in the management of the case, as they have had the odds against them. – Kaufman Sun.
