Shands – Forney, Tex., Sept. 25 – Mrs. H.J. Shands, for forty years a resident of Forney, died at her home here Tuesday night at the age of 88 years. Her husband, H.J. Shands, who died several years ago, was one of the pioneer businessmen of this county. She leaves several grown children and grandchildren.

Note: Melissa Boydston Penry Shands is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery.
