Mrs. Walter Adams of Forney, Pioneer Druggist’s Wife, Dies

Mrs. Walter D. Adams, wife of a pioneer Forney druggist, died at her home early Monday.

Born in Forney, Kaufman County, in 1872, Mrs. Adams had spent her entire life there. She was a member of the Christian Church for fifty years. As Miss Mattie Self she was married to Walter D. Adams in 1894.

Mrs. Adams was a charter member of the Texas Druggists Ladies Auxiliary which she helped organize, and was a member of the National Druggists Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, correspondent of The News for thirty years, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Forney Christian Church. The Rev. M.L. Joines of Forney, the Rev. Blackshear Jamison of Longview and the Rev. L.B. Haskins of Dallas will officiate.

Entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum, Dallas. The Rev. W.F. Chamberlain of Terrell and Bishop Harry T. Moore of Dallas will hold Episcopal services at the tomb.

 

Note: Martha “Mattie” Self Adams is buried at the Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
