66-Year Resident of St. Martin’s Parish Succumbs

Mrs. Mary Vaughan, 91, native of Ireland and mother of Mrs. Pat O’Connor, 3925 Bowser, died at her home near Forney, Tuesday following an illness of three weeks.

Born in County Claire, Ireland, Mrs. Vaughan came to St. Martin’s Parish, and Irish colony near Forney, sixty-six years ago, arriving many years before the settlement’s Church (St. Martin’s) was erected. Her late husband, Ed Vaughan, also came from Ireland and they met at Forney and were married. He was a farmer.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. O’Connor, Mrs. M.C. Costello, Forney, and Sister M. Edmund, St. Charles, Mo.; one son, J.R. Vaughn, Forney; brother, John Maloney, Terrell; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at the residence of her son at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin’s Church by Father Francis Brady. Burial will be at Terrell.

Vaughan, Forney; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, John Maloney, Terrell. Rosary Wednesday, 8 p.m., at the residence of J.R. Vaughan, near Forney. Services Thursday, 9:30 a.m., St. Martin’s Church, Forney. Interment Terrell (Texas) Cemetery. Arrangements Guardian Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ed Vaughan, aged 94, mother of Mrs. Mike Costello, died at the home of her daughter in Talty about 11 o’clock Tuesday morning. Funeral arrangements are pending, but will probably be held at St. Martin’s church, Talty, Thursday morning.
