Rosary for Martin M. Layden, member of a Kaufman County pioneer family and a retired Dallas independent real estate man, will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ed C. Smith & Bro. Funeral Chapel.

Requiem Mass for Mr. Layden will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church with interment following in Calvary Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Layden, 83, of 4404 Normandy, died in Dallas Tuesday.

He was born in Forney, which his family had pioneered in the mid-1800s.

Mr. Layden had been self-employed in real estate in Dallas 50 years before his retirement two years ago.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church here.

Survivors are his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Edward R. Maher and Miss Nora Layden, all of Dallas.

Rosary was recited Wednesday evening in Dallas for Martin M. Layden, 83, of Dallas. Mr. Layden, a resident of the Talty community for many years, died at his home in Dallas Tuesday. Mass held at the Christ the King Catholic Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Edward Mahar officiating. Interment at Calvary Hill. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Burnette Layden, sisters, Miss Nora Layden and Mrs. Edward R. Mahar.
