James Columbus Townsend of Forney, passed away Monday October 16, in Terrell Hospital.

The son of Andrew Jackson and Elijah Jane Dozier Townsend, he was born February 17, 1889 near Quitman, Wood County, Texas.

He came to Forney area as a small child and lived his entire life in and around the Forney area.

He was married on July 31, 1910 to Ettie Mae Nash and they had nine children.

Survivors were four sons: James, Clifford and David Townsend of Forney and Jack Townsend of Brookshire, Texas; five daughters, Leona Shipley, Inez Shipley, and Mildred Eudy of Forney, Nell McGee of Dallas and Louise Branson of Irving.

Also he was survived by 19 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and one Great, Great Grandchild as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 18, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Forney with Reverend Jerry Griffin officiating and Bo Baker assisting.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney.

If desired, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Forney or to Hillcrest Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Forney, with Bro. Jerry Griffin officiating and Bo Baker assisting. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney, Texas.
