Railroad Meeting

Forney Tribune

The adjourned railroad meeting June 27th, was largely attended by the leading business men and farmers, showing conclusively they meant business, and if a united effort on their part was all the was necessary, Forney would certainly secure the Tyler and Gainesville Road. The meeting permanently organized by electing N.E. Shands chairman, and J.A. Madden, secretary. After which the delegates sent to Tyler reported quite an enthusiastic meeting there, and seemed confident that by all the citizens working in unison, Forney would secure the road. The delegates also explained the proposed plan for building the road which seemingly impressed every one present as sound. The following committee was quickly selected on right of way and subscription with instructions to report to convention July 6th, at Dailey & McKellar hall at 3 o’clock. We hope every citizen of the town and precinct will be on hand that day and lend every assistance possible and we feel sure if Forney succeeds in getting the road incalculable results will follow.
