National Bank Expected

Forney, Tex., Feb. 18 – It is a fact that Forney will have six or eight massive stone and brick structures as soon as the material can be had.

A wealthy gentleman of Galveston was in the city last week with the view of establishing a national bank, and it is almost settled that it will be in operation in a few months.

The late cold weather has caused the hay trade to liven up and it is now selling very rapidly.

Tom Smithers, colored, who burned out of the calaboose here noot long since, an account of which appeared in The News, was captured in Elmo Sunday, brought here and taken to Kaufman Sunday evening.

The new school-house in south Forney will be commenced soon and when completed will be a magnificent building.

Two frame business houses have just been completed on south Pacific avenue.

Miss Bledsoe has quite a large elocution class at the north Forney academy.

A shooting affray occurred Sunday eening in the Star saloon but the names of the parties could not be ascertained.

Mrs. M.E. Jones has leased the Register to Capt. C.L. Teague. The citizens wish Capt. Teague success and prosperity.

The tramps seem to have made Forney their headquarters this week.
