Forney Takes Action

Forney, Kaufman Co., Tex,. May 1- This afternoon at 3 o’clock a mass meeting of the citizens of Forney precinct was called for the purpose of sending aid to the suffers at Cisco, Tex.  J.S. Wood was elected chairman, T. J. Wideman, secretary and treasurer.

Mr. Wood stated the object of the meeting after which a sum of money was raised.

The following committee was appointed to canvass the prescient for subscriptions: R.P. Rhea, N. E. Shands, Y. McKellar, J. M. Lewis, P. M. Lewis, M. T. McDonald, T. J. Wideman,  K. C. Mounger, John Chatman, Thomas Layden, J. E. Moon, Sr. and B.F. Coats.

This committee represents every portion of Forney precinct and a good sum will be raised.  The chairman instructed the committee to have all funds in by Wednesday evening.

At a called meeting of the Odd Fellows Lodge, $25 was raised among the members individually and the lodge, proper will subscribe $25 out of its treasury, making $50 from the lodge alone which will be sent to Cisco right away.

 

Note: This is in response to the report that a tornado blew through the town of Cisco, Texas, wiping out the train depot and at least 25 people who were standing there.
