Simon Floyd, Bride to Live in Kaufman

Simon LaRoe Floyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaRoe Floyd of Kaufman, and his bride, the former Miss Virginia Ann King of Forney, daughter of Mrs. Ollie King of Forney and C.A. King of Salem, Oregon, will reside in Kaufman upon their return from a short wedding trip.

The couple was given in marriage by her brother, Dickie King. She wore a gown of French lace and satin with a picture neckline and long sleeves and fashioned with a bustle and a chapel-length train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was caught to a crown of lace and seed pearls. She carried a period bouquet of orchids and stephanotis atop a white prayer book.

Mrs. Jerry A. Collins of Greenville was her cousin’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Doris Marie Brown and Miss Irene Stone. Miss Carol Ann Sline of Forney, the bride’s cousin, was the junior bridesmaid.

Bill R. Spraberry of Wichita Falls served as best man. Groomsmen were Bill H. Bailey Jr. of Jacksonville and Box Belzle of Garland. George R. Long and John Long, both of Kaufman, were ushers. Candlelighters were cousins of the bride, Tommy Taylor of Bonham and Davie Owens of Forney.

A reception was held in the church. Included in the house party were Miss Theta Sessions, Miss Bettye Taylor, Mmes. R.J. Green, J.D. Smith and Jack M. McClure, all of Forney; Neta Harris of Kaufman, James I Hale and June Good of Garland.

The bride attended East Texas State Teachers College where she was a member of Delta Mu Alpha sorority.
