Roland, Forney’s 175-pound fullback, paced the winner’s scoring with 22 points. Mitchell, leading schoolboy scorer in the state, ran over one touchdown to add 6 points to his total of 186 points for the season.

Forney scored in every quarter and chalked up 19 points in their busy second period. Judson Grove, which was outmanned and outweighed, took to the air on the arm of slender Gene Whitehurst to score one tally in the third period and then ran one over in the final quarter.

Bright spot of the game came early in the second quarter when Mitchell burst through his own right tackle and scampered 88 yards for Forney’s second touchdown. Roland tallied Forney’s first score late in the first quarter when he plunged over from the 1-yard line to cap a 65-yard drive.

Roland accounted for two more Jackrabbit scores in the second and fourth periods, on two runs of 25 yards. He also accounted for all four of Forney’s extra points.

Reserve Back Everett Ray Aslin tallied for Forney in the second period scampering around his own right end for 35 yards. The other Jackrabbit score was added by Quarterback Charley Osborne in the third period on a 5-yard plunge over center.

Judson Grove’s first touchdown in the third came on a 19-yard pass from Whitehurst to End Roger Loving. The Blue Devils second touchdown was scored by fleet Hurst Gary with five seconds remaining in the ball game. Gary broke over right tackle for 25 yards.
