George R. Jordan was born at Kemp, Texas, but spent most of his early life in Forney. At one time he was connected with the Riggs Hardware and Furniture Co. After his graduation from the Forney High school he attended Austin College at Sherman, Texas. In 1914 he became representative of the Southland Life Insurance Co. His efficient work in that field won him many honors and state wide recognition. In 1925 he was made district manager of the Southland Life Insurance Co. He is now vice-president and agency manager of the International Travelers Assurance Co.

He was married to Lucille Hailey in 1917. They have two sons, Edwin and George, Jr. Mr. Jordan and family made their home in Forney until 1933, when they moved to Dallas. Edwin attended Texas University and is now a senior student at Southern Methodist University. George, Jr. is a student at Texas A&M College.

Mr. Jordan was a charter member of the local Lions Club and has been active in the work of the club both here and in Dallas. He was a district governor Two-X in 1933-34 and was elected third vice-president of Lions International last July at the convention in Oakland, California. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and Past Potentate of Hella Temple.
