Out with the old, in with the new - to restore the old! The Forney Historic Preservation League, after firing previous architect Norman Alston, has hired the historic restoration specialist team of Quimby-McCoy to renovated both downtown buildings.
The plans have changed little - to restore both historic buildings to their original appearance to be used for a museum. The restoration should take about 1 1/2 years to complete. This photo shows what the first building looked like shortly after it was built in 1895. The FHPL hopes to remove the plaster on the outside of the building, which is currently cracking in several places, to get back to the original brick. The second building was a sister to this one, and will look very similar in the front.

In the meantime, please visit the current history museum on the 2nd floor of the City Hall building, Wednesdays 11 am to 3 pm, other times by appointment. If you'd like to see the museum on another day, or would like to bring a group, please contact Tracy at 469-323-4084 for more information.
